Romans Study Chapters 1 and 2

I'm reading through Romans while I'm out for the next week. I hope that you'll study with me.

Today: read through chapters 1 - 2. (You can read it online @biblegateway.com)

A couple things to keep in mind when reading Romans
---It was the center of world culture at the time.
-Paul is writing to a church of people he's never met.
-Rome had many religions from around the world, many 'gods' as well as a highly educated society.

What sticks out to you?

Some verses for deeper study...

1:16... what do you think it means to be unashamed?
Have there been times when you have felt ashamed if your faith?

Who has God revealed himself to?

1:21-32... What is the difference between knowing about God and knowing Him?

Ch 2. What person or group of people do you catch yourself judging?
What is the difference between your "judgment" and God's?Why?

2:11...tells us God does not show favoritism.
What emotions does that bring up? I find it frustrating in some ways because I convince myself my sin is not as bad as that of others. Yet God loves all His people, even those who hate Him.

What else sticks out to you?
Romans is where much of Christian theology is explained. It is an incredible journey that never loses its relevance to our current culture.

Tomorrow night I'll post on chapters 3 and 4.
